The recipient of a bachelor's degree in special education from Central State University, Keith Morris later received master's degrees in education administration and educational leadership from the University of Phoenix and Oakland University. During this time, he served as a principal and in other administrative roles in Detroit, Michigan. After working as a special education teacher for seven years in Ohio and Michigan, Keith Morris served as assistant principal of Barber School from 2004 to 2009, during which time the Highland Park-based school consistently achieved adequate yearly progress status.
Since leaving Barber School, Keith Morris has held administrative roles with Wolfe Middle School and David Ellis Academy. He presently serves as dean of instruction for grades 5 to 8 at Mary McLeod Bethune School, where he oversees all areas of academic performance and extracurricular activities. In addition to his role with the Detroit-based school, he is pursuing a PhD in educational leadership at Oakland University with an expected graduation date of May 2019. Moreover, Mr. Morris is experienced with education-based strategy programs such as Classroom Instruction that Works and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports.
